How To Control And Eliminate Your Stink Bug Problem
The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is indigenous to Asian ecology but was accidentally introduced into the United States in September of 1998. Since then the stink bug has been nothing more than an agricultural pest destroying crops in now more than 38 states across the U.S. Causing significant damage to apple orchards, peach crops and grape farms, the bug serves no other purpose than to reproduce and destroy delectable fruits while annoying the living hell out of every homeowner across the land. While there is no clear identifiable way to cause mass genocide on this stinky epidemic, there are a few precautions and steps that can be taken to eliminate them from your homes and area.
First off, if you happen to come across a stink bug in your house, car, deck or patio just kill it on spot. If they are in your house and you don't want that smell on your hands or in your house you can either use a vacuum cleaner to suck them up or wrap them in tissue paper and flush them down the toilet or dispose of them outdoors immediately after capture. Letting these bugs go will only allow them to reproduce and multiply even more.
If that is only a temporary solution to a bigger problem you may want to think something more powerful, like insecticides. As always, when using insecticides be sure to read the label and make sure they are safe for pets or children. One product that has proven to be very effective in both of those areas and is very popular among exterminators is Talstar Pro. The best way to use this product is to mix one (1) ounce of the concentrate with one gallon of water into a Chemical Sprayer and apply with a fine, fan spray to the outdoor areas infested the most. Pay more attention to the window and door areas where the bugs are getting in. A more expensive and said to be more effective insecticide that can be used is Suspend Polyzone which is said to last up to 90 days after your initial application.
If the bugs are already in your house and have taken over your basement or attic you can always kill those little buggers with aerosol foggers or bombers that will eradicate them instantly. Raid has a reasonably inexpensive and effective fogger that will take care of that problem very quickly and harmlessly (to you at least). Another effective way to control the bugs already in your house are with Nuvana Prostrips Vapona Insect Control which use controlled release technology to slowly diffuse a deep penetrating odorless vapor that will kill the stink bugs and keep future ones at bay. Also, Sticky Fly Traps installed in problem areas can also be a cheap yet effective way to control bugs from entering your house.
If killing an annoying little bug is something you are against then I would suggest not reading anything else on this site. But you can take preventative measures against them entering your house by fixing up any holes in window or door screens and patching up any holes in your siding, window frames and roof.
If none of these options work out for you then you may want to consider some of the natural predators of the stink bugs. These predators include parasitic wasps, garden spiders, birds, praying mantis and even ants. So go out and get yourself some pet birds, a colony of ants and a few parastic wasp nests and place them throughout your house. That will take care of your stink bug problem in no time, but may introduce a few other problems that aren't worth the hassle. I'm kidding of course, but if the problem does keep increasing these options on a wide scale manner may not sound so ridiculous.
So there you have it, multiple effective and reasonably cheap ways to control your stink bug problem and hopefully eradicate these pesty little buggers for good before they start causing more damage than they already have...
